Event Report Microsoft Ignite 2018 – What happened?

ThinPrint at Microsoft Ignite 2018

At Microsoft Ignite 2018 ThinPrint presented printing for Remote Desktops and Microsoft Azure.

Microsoft recently held its global customer event, Microsoft Ignite 2018, in one of the cities the ThinPrint team most enjoys for events: Orlando, Florida.

Aside from holding the event in a great location Microsoft announced that starting with a beta later this year Microsoft is offering Windows Virtual Desktops (WVD), an addition to its Azure Service, that will offer customers a Windows 10 desktop-as-a-service. Based on the demos shown around the event this will be an incredibly easy to scale offering that offers full compatibility with all applications including Microsoft Office365 and Edge browser that were often excluded with previous Remote Desktops based on Windows Server.

At Microsoft Ignite 2018, Microsoft recognized the importance of printing for WVD and announced a partnership with ThinPrint, to provide a seamless printing experience for the new offerings. We’re extremely proud to be chosen to be Microsoft’s launch partner for printing and working hard to present our solutions for Windows Virtual Desktops once they launch.

We were excited to see that one of our existing ThinPrint Partners – CloudJumper – was named one of the Launch Partners as well. It’s always fun to work with the best in our industry!

Microsoft’s new strategy they announced at Microsoft Ignite 2018 is certainly a game changer and a proof how important virtual desktops have become in the last couple of years. Conversation with visitors in our booth and around the event have shown tremendous interest in printing for WVD but also for a host of other applications that are being moved to Azure and need to easily, quickly and reliable print individual items as well as batch jobs back to the organization’s local network.

The ThinPrint team had a great time at Ignite, met old friends and made new ones, celebrated with our partners to be part of the Windows Virtual Desktop Launch and some of us enjoyed the final night party at Universal Studios more than I would ever have imagined.

We can’t wait to work with customers when WVD launches and look forward to seeing everyone at Ignite 2019!
